How is Niacin effective in Hair Vitamins?

Niacin is one of the most effective vitamins to promote hair growth, but how does it work? Like many other vitamins, this one is easily noticed when there is a deficiency of it in the body. A lack of it can lead to dermatological conditions, anxiety, depression, thickening skin, fatigue, and many other problems. The good news with this vitamin is that deficiencies in it are rare for people in developed countries who do not suffer from long-term alcohol abuse. Better still, it’s a vitamin that is easy to get in a diet that includes tuna, salmon, beef, chicken, eggs, tomatoes, leafy vegetables, carrots, broccoli, nuts and a variety of other common foods.
 
Unlike many other vitamins for hair growth, it is also easy to recognize the effectiveness of this one, especially in hair vitamins. This vitamin is like the rocket fuel of hair growth. That doesn’t mean that taking it will cause noticeable results in a day or two, but it can speed up results that would otherwise take considerably longer to achieve.

What is it?

Niacin is vitamin B-3, meaning that it was the third of the B vitamins that was discovered. As a supplement, it is water soluble and easy to absorb in the system. It also helps to break down food to absorb energy.

How does it work in vitamins that promote hair growth?

Niacin’s most important function related to hair growth is that it increases blood flow to the surface of the skin. This is especially important in hair vitamins for men where part of the supplement function should be to help stop DHT and hair loss (male pattern balding). The scalp is a large area of skin. By increasing the blood flow to the scalp, it also helps with the growth and rejuvenation of hair follicles. Hair follicles rely on blood flow to supply nutrients and oxygen that cause hair to grow. Blood flow also helps to cleanse the follicles.
 
Without adequate blood flow and circulation in the follicles, hair cannot grow or remain healthy. But by increasing that flow, not only will hair be stronger and healthier, it will grow faster. B-3 kick starts the growing process and reduces the amount of time hair spends in the rest phase because it is healthier.
 
A great side effect it provides is stress relief. While a lack of it can lead to anxiety and depression, an adequate supply of it can lower stress and contribute to better mental health. Stress and depression are two known causes of thinning hair. Thinning hair vitamins often have a higher percentage of Niacin to assist lowering ther chemical and hormonal reactions caused by stress.

Is there a down side to Niacin?

Taking too much of this vitamin can lead to uncomfortable results. It is important to take only the recommended dose of the supplement each day. Taking more than what is recommended can lead to skin flushing and uncomfortable itching, as well as skin rashes. The skin flushing alone can be an uncomfortable side effect as it can feel feverish.

But it is a good vitamin on the whole, right?

Niacin is effective in hair vitamins. It provides some of the most beneficial effects that growing hair needs to be healthy and strong. It can also speed up hair growth. If taken responsibly, it can be the cornerstone of supplements that are used to promote hair growth.
